Britton has not dropped a set in his first three matches, and has spent a total of 2 hours and 52 minutes on the court. Beginning today, however, he’ll have to perform double duty. He and partner Jordan Cox — who also advanced to the third round — were scheduled to start the doubles tournament later today.

Against Fernandes, Britton outlasted his opponent in a tough first set and then crushed him in the second. Britton had six aces to none for Fernandes in the second set, won 16 of his 19 service points and broke Fernandes twice.
