Miss Jackson, Mr. Dee to recite vows Aug. 15

The engagement of Darlinda Lanese Jackson to Kelvin Lorenzo Dee, both of Vicksburg, is announced today. Vows will be exchanged at 3 p.m. Aug. 15, 2009, at Calvary M.B. Church on Klein Street. A reception will follow at Vicksburg Municipal Auditorium. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Miss Jackson is the daughter of Louis Edward Jackson Sr. of Vicksburg and Charlinda Faye Chambers of Nashville, Tenn. She is the granddaughter of James Jackson and the late Mary Jane Wells Bingham of Vicksburg and the late Flora Mae Chambers of Nashville. Her guardian is Bobbie Bingham Morrow, aunt of the bride-elect, of Vicksburg.

Mr. Dee is the son of Leroy Dee Sr. and Daisy Dee of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Para Lee Dorsey and the late Alex Dorsey Jr. of Port Gibson and Kelly Dee Sr. and the late Jewel Marie Dee of Pattison.

The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was a member of Choices and the varsity, concert and women’s choirs. She served as president of the Vicksburg Warren NAACP Youth Council.

She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in management from Jackson State University and is pursuing a degree in cosmetology from Hinds Community College in Utica.

Miss Jackson is a sales associate at Simply Fashions.

The prospective groom is a 2002 graduate of Vicksburg High School, where he was a member of the marching band.

He attended Alcorn State University.

Mr. Dee is a salesman at Vicksburg Ford-Lincoln-Mercury.
