AURORA, Ill. — Walter Thompson Jr. died Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora. He was 58.

He was a longtime resident of Aurora.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mason Smith; and his brother, Albert Lynn.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Thompson of Aurora; three sons, Walter Cooper, Ellison Cooper and James Thompson, all of Aurora; two daughters, Bonika Jones and Tomika Deberry, both of Aurora; his mother, Carrie Smith; a brother, Robert Thomas; a sister, Earline Thompson of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren.

A celebration of life, directed by Elegy Cremation and Memorial Service, will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the Prisco Center in Aurora.
