Marie H. Grayson

Marie H. Grayson died Monday, July 13, 2009, at her home. She was 87.
Mrs. Grayson received her nursing training at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colo. She worked as a registered nurse on the Shasta Dam project in California, then for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Juneau, Alaska, during World War II. An active member of Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and served on various committees. She was Past Worthy Grand Matron of the Acacia Chapter of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Fred Grayson of Vicksburg; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Hoffman; and two brothers, Donald E., Hoffman and Harold A. Hoffman.
Survivors include three daughters, Cherry Hudson and husband Carl Terry, Jeanne Deen and husband Billy, Helen McGehee and husband Clyde and one special daughter, Mittie Warren, all of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Chapel with the Rev. Greg Hazlerig officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon Wednesday until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Hillary Westbrook, Brian Chewning, Bruce Cutting, Paul Kimball and her grandsons, Michael Hudson and Grayson McGehee.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Grayson Sunday school class.
Memorials may be made to Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church, St. Jude’s Children Hospital or favorite charity.
