Victim injured in robbery try; suspect nabbed

An attempted robbery outside a local restaurant early this morning has landed a Vicksburg man in jail.

Jimmy Hill, 22, 313 Evergreen Drive, was arrested at LD’s Kitchen, 1111 Mulberry St., around 1 a.m., charged by police with attempted robbery after he knocked a man to the ground and tried to take his wallet, Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

The victim told police that when he left the restaurant, Hill followed him outside, hit him in the back of the head with his fist and tried to rob him. The victim jumped up, went back into the restaurant and called police.

Hill was still on site when they arrived, Stewart said. He was being held at the police station this morning.

The victim suffered a cut to his hand and a scrape on his face but did not require treatment at the hospital, Stewart said.

Second auto burglary reported at address

A second auto burglary was reported Thursday morning in the 100 block of Eastover Drive, said police Lt. Bobby Stewart.

A Pioneer CD player valued at $150 was reported stolen at 9:47 a.m. from a 2003 Kia Spectra.

A Sony CD player had been reported stolen from another vehicle at the same address four hours earlier.

Stewart said the two were possibly related.

City woman held for drug court

A Vicksburg woman was in the Warren County Jail this morning on a drug court violation.

Martha Stephens, 61, 510 Bazinsky Road, Apt. 3G, was arrested Thursday at her home by sheriff’s deputies. She was being held without bond.
