Mr. McMillin, Miss Johnston marry May 23

Stephen Lee McMillin and Jennifer Lynne Johnston were married at 6 p.m. May 23, 2009, at Crawford Street United Methodist Church. The Revs. William Geoffrey Joyner and Michael Christopher Nation officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. Walter Easterling Johnston Jr. and the late Maxine Irby Johnston of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Walter Easterling Johnston Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McGriff Irby Jr., all of Vicksburg.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Fitten Lamar McMillin Jr. of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. Fitten Lamar McMillin Sr. of Little Rock, Ark., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willard Arlene Ellingson of Milaca, Minn.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride’s chosen colors were red, yellow and purple.

Music for the ceremony was presented by Dr. Clarissa Behr Davis, soloist; Dorothy Brasfield, organist; Dr. Alan Lessem, flutist; David Demirbilek, violinist; Darcie Bishop, trumpeter; and Kristopher Carmichael and Tim Gordon, bagpipers.

Maid of honor was Laura Katherine Johnston of Vicksburg. Matron of honor was Leslie Horn Vollor of Vicksburg. Bridesmaids were Lauren Wooten Gardner of Laurel; Maggie Maynord Nasif of Vicksburg; Brooke Burge Johnston of Miami, Fla.; and Ashley McMillin Moomaw of Chattanooga, Tenn.

Honorary bridesmaids were Katherine Ann Hall of Jackson; Grace Yeeman Lo of Oakland, Calif.; Leslie Lee Renfroe of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Annie Laurie Tunnell of Birmingham, Ala.

The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were Bryan Irby Johnston of Birmingham, Michael Rhodes Johnston of Baton Rouge, David Lamar McMillin of Oakland, Richard Leake Johnston of Miami and Charles Joseph Moomaw of Chattanooga.

Ushers were Derek Wyndel Grey and Jason Kelly Johnston, both of Jackson; and Scott Joseph Johnston and Sydney William Johnston III, both of Vicksburg.

Flower girl was Sarah Elisabeth Johnston of Vicksburg.

Scripture readers were Allyson Neely Alves and Victoria Lynn McCaig. Programs were distributed by Lauren Elizabeth Gay and Lindsay Malik Gay.

Carol Horn and Marlene McLaurin served as special wedding assistants.

A reception followed the ceremony at the Rainbow Room. Guests were entertained with music by The Krackerjacks.

For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Picnic

A Southern-style picnic, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held the day after the wedding at the Mary Harwood. Guests were entertained with music by the Ben Shaw Band.

Rehearsal dinner

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the B’nai B’rith Literary Club. Music by the Patrick Smith Band followed the dinner.

Bridesmaids’ luncheon

Sara Jean Burke hosted a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Anchuca.

Bachelorette party

Laura Katherine Johnston, Maggie Nasif, Leslie Renfroe and Annie Tunnell honored the bride with a bachelorette party in Las Vegas.

Engagement celebration

The bridal couple was honored with an engagement celebration at Magnolia Bluffs.
