WQBC AM Radio will return to full-time broadcasting Aug. 1 after being off the air for three months.
“That ought to make a lot of people in Vicksburg happy,” said Michael Corley president of Grace Media International, parent company of WQBC.
He said he petitioned the Federal Communications Commission to allow the station to be off the air while he addressed details with a license management agreement he made with Debut Broadcasting in 2008.
Debut operated an ESPN sports talk format on the station until May 1, 2009, Corley said.
Corley said GMI and Debut agreed to terminate the agreement.
The station will return to the air next month to meet FCC’s time frame.
Corley said WQBC, 3190 Porters Chapel Road, will offer traditional news/talk format with a full lineup from FOX News Radio.
The program schedule will include Brian and the Judge, John Gibson, Tom Sullivan and Alan Colmes.
Along with 24-hour FOX News coverage, WQBC will feature local programs such as “On Call with Dr. Dan Edney” as well as community events and news.
Christian programs and “The Michael Corley Program” will be added to the roster later, Corley said.
GMI, a Christian based media company, has offered Christian talk radio through WQBC since 2004.
Debut Broadcasting entered the Vicksburg market by purchasing WBBV River 101.3 and KLSM Sam 104.5 from Holladay Broadcasting in March 2008, according to reports.
