Services for Lawrence Spratley will be at 2 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Spratley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 6 p.m. Thursday at Robbins Funeral Home.

Mr. Spratley died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Covenant Health & Rehab of Vicksburg. He was 97.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Howard Spratley, Willie Spratley, George Spratley, Edward Spratley, Walter Spratley and Lewis Bradley; and four sisters, Louise Spratley Marley, Bertha Spratley Owen, Fannie Spratley Howe and Edna Spratley Grant.

Survivors include six nephews, George Spratley Jr. and Willie Spratley, both of Vicksburg, Thomas Spratley of Flint, Mich., Willie “Honey” Howe of Ferriday, La., and Walter Spratley Jr. and Lewis Bradley Jr., both of Jackson; three nieces, Carrie Lighter and Edna Spratley Brooks, both of Vicksburg, and Edna Mae Reed of Kalamazoo, Mich.; cousins; and friends and other relatives, including Lucy Spratley Sims, Mattie Brown, Evette Mayfield and members of the Wince and Brown families.
