Three weekend wrecks leave five injured

Five people were injured in three wrecks over the weekend.

An Aiken, S.C., man and two Jackson women were injured in a four-car accident at 3:18 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 20 West just west of Bovina.

David Watkins, 25, 1779 Hatchaway Bridge Road, Aiken; and Glenda Ladejobi, 51, and Linda Goldsby, 25, both of 3518 N. West St., Jackson, were taken to River Region Medical Center.

Stephen Rogers, 18, 630 Dumbarton Drive, Shreveport, La., was injured in a one-car wreck an hour later on I-20 West near Bovina.

John Willoughby, 50, 3400 U.S. 80, was injured in a one-car accident on U.S. 80 at Mount Alban Road at 9:41 p.m. Friday. Willoughby was treated at River Region.

River Region did not return calls for condition reports.

TV, weed trimmers missing on Bowmar

Three items were reported stolen from a home in the city at 4:49 Monday evening, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

A 19-inch Panasonic TV valued at $150 and two gas-powered weed trimmers were reported taken from a home in the 500 block of Bowmar Avenue.

Suspect held longer after attack in jail

A Vicksburg man scheduled to be released from the Warren County Jail Saturday remained there today after an attack on a law enforcement officer and attempted escape Friday night, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Derrick Leon Johnson, 32, N. Locust St., is accused of assaulting two officers who were taking him from one cell to another and a booking clerk, who was not involved.

Johnoson was initially charged with probation violation. Pace said Johnson never left the booking floor during the attempt.

Four jailed here on various charges

Four people were in the Warren County Jail on assorted charges during the weekend, jail records showed.

Cordell Harris, 30, 916 Ingle Street, Jackson, was in jail Friday for drug court sanction, jail records showed.

Harris was released back to drug court without bond.

James Gatlin, 20, 429 S. Gallatin St., Jackson, was arrested for failed restitution and probation violation at 7:17 a.m. Sunday.

Gatlin was being held at the Warren County Jail without bond.

Racheal Lynn Aden-Clark, 29, 102 Muirfield Lane, Clinton, was arrested for trespassing at 5 a.m. July 18 and released on $289.50 bond.

Dee A. Leach, 22, 104 James Court, was in jail Friday for drug court sanction, jail records showed.

Leach was released by drug court without bond.

County woman jailed on counterfeit charge

A Vicksburg woman was charged Monday with two counts of uttering a forgery, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Wanda Smart, 45, 160 Bovina Drive, was arrested for trying to cash a $653.12 counterfeit Scottish Inn payroll check at a business at 2192 Iowa Blvd. Smart is also accused of cashing a $543.27 counterfeit check July 20, Stewart said.

She was in the Warren County Jail on a $20,000 bond today.
