PORT GIBSON — Georgia H. Mays died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at her home in Port Gibson. She was 68.

Mrs. Mays was a member of Old Come and See Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Susie Kelly-Mays; one brother, Robert Mays; and one sister, Sarah Jane Mays.

She is survived by her companion, Johnnie L. Payne of Port Gibson; a son, David Mays of Port Gibson; three brothers, Sam Ivy and William Kelly, both of Chicago, and Walter Mays of Port Gibson; four sisters, Julia Mays of Port Gibson and Maple Patterson, Lizzie Covington and Lucille Mays, all of Chicago; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including Annie Kelly-Bell, Shirley Mays, Demetris Mays and Larry Mays, all of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Old Come and See Baptist Church with the Rev. Ervin Cosey officiating. Burial will follow at Engleside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Sunday at the church from noon until the service.
