Linda Tischer

ASHBURN, Va. — Linda Tischer, formerly of Vicksburg, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at her home in Ashburn, Va. She was 65.

Ms. Tischer was born in Northampton, Mass., to Robert and Barbara Tischer. She graduated from Starkville High School and received a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in special education from Mississippi State University.

She taught in public schools in Mississippi and Florida before completing a second master’s degree in geography at Syracuse University. She began work in the intelligence field in the Washington, D.C., area in 1988 and retired from the Central Intelligence Agency in 2008 after working in both government service and private industry for the last 20 years.

She and her husband were members of the Potomac Pedalers bicycle club.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Hieb of Ashburn; her mother, Barbara Tischer of Starkville; two daughters, Barbara Flickinger and Emily Broad, both of Richardson, Texas; two brothers, Robert Tischer of Falls Church, Va., and Steve Tischer of Atlanta; a sister, Kristine Edwards of Starkville; and seven grandchildren.
