Howard weds Thomas at Cedar Grove Church

Derrick Howard and Monieke La’Shon Thomas were married at 2 p.m. Aug. 1, 2009, at Cedar Grove Church. Dr. Antione Eakins officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Barbara Jefferson and Jean Thomas, both of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Bessie Havert of Michigan and Mr. and Mrs. Issac Thomas of Vicksburg.
The groom is the son of Floyd Hall and the late Georgia Ann Hall of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of the late Georgia Mae Benard of Vicksburg.
The bride was given in marriage by her sister, Angela Turner. Her chosen colors were pool blue, silver, black and ivory.
Maids of honor were Crystal Washington and Felicia Jefferson, both of Vicksburg. Matrons of honor were Erica Howard of Atlanta and Trish Younger of Vicksburg.
Bridesmaids were Latorya Mitchell of Houston, Texas; Miquella London of Dallas, Texas; LaKeisha Kennedy of Vicksburg; Chartel Brooks of Jackson; Aramis Austin of Gulfport; and Angela King of Lake Providence.
Richard Bass of Vicksburg served as best man. Groomsmen were Omar Mitchell of Houston and Eric Kennedy, Fred Gaskin, Frank Gardner, Willie Wardley and Anthony Austin, all of Vicksburg.
Ushers were Jamey King and Christopher Benard, both of Vicksburg.
Flower girl was Mya Jones of Vicksburg. Ring bearers were Alvis Christon and Niyanna Smith, both of Vicksburg.
A reception followed at Unique Banquet Hall on Mississippi 27. Hostesses were Lisa Benard and members of the Benard family.
For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Atlanta. They will make their home in Vicksburg.
The bride is employed at Cedar Grove Mansion, and the groom is employed with the City of Vicksburg.
