Dorothy Jean Williams Flowers

ROLLING FORK — Dorothy Jean Williams Flowers, 77, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, in Greenwood.
Mrs. Flowers was born in Hollandale on Feb. 6, 1932, to the late A.T. and Beulah Mae Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar A. Flowers.
Mrs. Flowers was a retired day-care operator. She loved her family, her church and flower gardening.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Eddie (Angie) Flowers of Greenwood, Richard (Jennifer) Flowers of Huntsville, Texas, Rodney “Boo” (Nancy) Flowers of Pontotoc and Michael (Diane) Flowers of Tupelo; a sister, Glynn Smith and husband Robert; grandchildren, Kimberly Hooker, Allen Flowers, Julie Flowers, Meagan Rae Mitchell, Mary Britton Mitchell, Jay Mitchell, Leslie Wiggins, Meghan Flowers, Chad Flowers, Reid Flowers, Emily Flowers, Truett Flowers, Kaitlin Flowers and Eli Flowers; and great-grandchildren, Win Hooker, Anna Margaret Hooker, Belton Walker, Elliott Flowers and Logue Flowers.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork under the direction of
Glenwood Funeral Home
of Rolling Fork.
Pallbearers will be Allen Flowers, Chad Flowers, Truett Flowers, Reid Flowers, Jay Mitchell and Ed Hooker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmie Dick Carter, Lawrence Carter, Ike Collins, Jimmy Walker, John Abney, Robert McAffey, Thad Virden, Dr. Danny Jackson, Dr. Henry Flautt and Dr. Aca Bennett with special recognition to the many children that Mrs. Flowers kept in her home throughout the years who blessed her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Village, P.O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060-0027 or to First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork.
