The Mississippi Youth Symphony Orchestra has scheduled auditions for the 2009-10 season.

Elementary through high school students can audition from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 4 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 5 at the F.D. Hall Music Center at Jackson State University.

Students are asked to bring their own instruments, but accommodations can be made.

Auditions are open on four levels — string 1 for beginners; string 2 for beginners to intermediate; intermediate; and advanced.

This season, the orchestra will practice from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. each Sunday. A fall concert and spring concert are planned.
