KOSCIUSKO — Guy Moffett Jr. died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at his daughter’s home in Vicksburg. He was 79.

Services will be at 4 this afternoon at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko with burial at Mizpah Cemetery in Durant, Miss., with Father Mike Barth officiating.

Mr. Moffett worked as owner and operator of Moffett’s Grocery in Kosciusko from 1975 until 1988. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a communicant of St. Therese Catholic Church.

Mr. Moffett was preceded in death by his wife, Lois McBride Moffett; and a daughter, Chris Porter.

He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Brewer of Vicksburg; two sons, Kim Moffett of Kosciusko and Tony Moffett of Vicksburg; three sisters, Billie Pugh of Kosciusko, Barbara Field of Gardnerville, Nev., and Dorothy Ashley of Portland, Ore.; one brother, Dan Moffett of Kosciusko; 10 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Moffett, William Pugh, Webber Brewer, Jason McKellar, Hank Cain, Joe Moffett, John Harrigill and Bill Hoxie.

Memorials may be made to the Catholic Children’s Village. The family would also like to thank the staff of Gilbert’s Home Health and Patient’s Choice Hospice in Vicksburg.
