Fred Henry Wells Sr.

Fred Henry Wells Sr. died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at his home. He was 81.

Mr. Wells was born in Montgomery, Ala., and had spent all of his adult life in Vicksburg. He retired from Blackburn Motor Co. after 38 years of service as an automobile technician. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by twin infant daughters and his parents, George and Sallie Wells.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Bell Wells of Vicksburg; three sons, Fred H. Wells Jr., David W. Wells and Robert M. Wells, all of Vicksburg; one daughter, Janice Marie Brewer of Vicksburg; a brother, George Wells Jr. of Delta; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Porters Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Kent Campbell officiating. Visitation will be at Glenwood Funeral Home from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Brian Wells, Cameron Wells, Trae Wells, Tyler Wells, Matt Brewer, Curtis Brewer, Jason Rutland and Jamie Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clark Williams, Paul Barlow, Herbert Wilks, Larry Copes, Jack Pickett, David McClurg, Horace Newman, Walter Whatley, Norman Francingues, Mark Zappi, James Harper Sr., G.T. “Red” Dowdy, Wallace Goza and Clyde Roberson.
