Ruby Thornton died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 99.

Mrs. Thornton was a member of Holly Grove M.B. Church, where she served on the mother’s board.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leon Davis Sr. and Louis Thornton; a son, Leon Davis Jr.; two daughters, Virginia Wherry and Rosie Lee Redfield; and her parents and sibling.

Survivors include three granddaughters, Ruby Haynes of Benton Harbor, Mich., Valeria Molinda of Springfield, Fla., and Nelda Allen of Flint, Mich.
