George Henry Kline Jr.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — George Henry Kline Jr. died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009. He was 71.
Mr. Kline was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Kan. He was a 1956 graduate of Sumner High School and attended Kansas City, Kan., Junior College.
He coached girls’ volleyball, basketball and track teams and served as head track coach for the Kansas City Blazers, Kansas City Roadrunners and at Park College. He was an assistant coach at Raytown South High School and for the Kansas City Sprinters. He volunteered at Blessed Sacrament and St. Martin de Porres schools and served as president of Bishop Helmsing Early Childhood Center School.
He served in the Marines, retiring in 1984 after 24 years of service. He was of the Catholic faith.
Mr. Kline was preceded in death by his father, George Henry Kline Sr.; a brother, James Lemore Kline; and a sister, Shirley Ann Offord.
Survivors include his mother, Florine Sadberry Kline Richardson of Kansas City, formerly of the Ballground community; a daughter, Tashia M. Kline of Kansas City; five stepchildren, Eileen Taylor, Edward Garrett, Roy Garrett and Walter Meredith, all of Kansas City, and Tyrone Meredith of Killeen, Texas; three brothers, Don Kline of King George, Va., Ronnie Pitchlyn of Kansas City and Mark D. Kline of Atlanta; two sisters, Frances Robinson and Harriet Belcher, both of Kansas City; a stepbrother, Danny Kline of Tulsa, Okla.; three stepsisters, Mona Boone, Lorraine Roland and Janice Keys, all of Tulsa; and nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Watkins Brothers Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Friday until the service.
