Scheffner, Bird exchange vows in Colorado

Norman Wahl Scheffner and Gail Ann Bird were married at 11 a.m. July 4, 2009, in Franktown, Colo.

The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rex L. Bird of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles McNay of Port Charlotte, Fla.

The groom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren Scheffner of Manitou Springs, Colo. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Wahl of Topeka, Kan.

The couple exchanged vows they had written. The bride’s chosen colors were lavender and beige.

Matrons of honor were Leah J. Flanigan of Williamsport, Pa., and Kathy L. Smerchek of Allenspark, Colo.

Douglas W. Scheffner of Kansas City, Mo., served as best man. Groomsmen were David E. Nixon of Franktown and Larry C. Bird of Baton Rouge.

Ring bearer was Jonah Potts of Castlerock, Colo.

A reception followed at the home of Dave and Norma Nixon of Franktown.

Hostesses were Audrey Potts, Hillary Nixon and Nancy LaCasio.

The couple will make their home in Port Lucie, Fla. The bride is retired from the Mississippi Department of Health, and the groom is retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers/ERDC.
