Man arrested in assault on wife in parking lot

A Vicksburg man was out on bond this morning after being charged with third-offense domestic abuse in an assault on his wife in the parking lot of Pemberton Square mall on Sunday.

Ronald Nicholas, 38, 1713 Monroe St., was arrested by Vicksburg police and taken to the Warren County Jail, from which he was released later Sunday on a $10,000 bond, Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department said this morning.

Nicholas was arrested at Kroger grocery store, about two blocks from the mall, Stewart said.

It was not clear if Nicholas’ wife was injured.

Weapons thefts heavy in city and county

Twelve burglaries were reported in Vicksburg and Warren County during the weekend.

In the city,

• A .40-caliber Smith & Wesson gun was reported missing at 2:50 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Stonewall Street.

• A 22-caliber Ruger pistol was reported missing at 6:28 p.m. Friday in the 3200 block of Washington Street.

• A High-Point .9-mm pistol was reported missing at 9:40 a.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Fifth North Street.

• An Alpine DVD/CD player was missing at 11:41 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of Village Drive.

• A Huskey knife was reported missing at 2:09 p.m. Friday in the 2000 block of Grove Street.

• A Rheem 50-gallon water heater was reported missing at 4:55 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of Poplar Street.

• A 2003 white Chevrolet pickup, Mississippi tag 3AX 261, was reported missing at 11:21 p.m. Saturday from the Cracker Barrel parking lot at 4001 S. Frontage Road.

• A pair of Polo sneakers and a pair Michael Jordan sneakers were reported missing at 3:04 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of U.S. 61 North.

In Warren County,

• A golf cart was reported missing at 6:17 a.m. Friday from Clear Creek Golf Course in the 1500 block of Tiffintown Road.

• A Sony X-plode AM/FM CD player and a Bryco Arms 25-caliber magazine were reported missing at 8:18 a.m. Friday from the 400 block of Newit Vick Drive.

• An H&R 45-70 long-barrel gun, a 22-caliber Ruger rifle, a Ruger MK-III rifle, a Remington shotgun, a Remington youth model 20-Ga shotgun, a Marlin 30-30, a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 magnum and a Remington 1187 3 1/2 magnum shotgun were reported missing at 10:47 a.m. from the 200 block of Smith Drive.

Two Texans jailed for methamphetamine

Two Texas men were in the Warren County Jail this morning charged with methamphetamine possession.

Rusty Campbell, 46, 133 Hymun St., Amarillo, is charged with possession of paraphernalia and meth.

Charles Anderson, 46, 2308 FM 1424, Happy, is charged with possession of meth.

Both were being held without bond pending initial court appearances.

Both were arrested by the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol, but details were not available.
