Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol investigators met Monday with a woman who might have been the driver in the hit-an- run death of 33-year-old John Lee Noble, 4798 U.S. 61 South, early Sunday morning, but the investigation continues and no charges have been filed, Sgt. James Walker said this morning.
“At this time, they’re still not through with their investigation,” said Walker. “They’ll be getting with the district attorney today or tomorrow, see what they have and go from there.”
Noble’s body was discovered in the 500 block of U.S. 80 near the Pear Orchard subdivision around 5:30 a.m. Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey said he believes the body had been on the north side of the highway for a few hours before it was found. Noble’s mother said he was at a nearby club on Saturday night celebrating his brother’s wedding.
Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said the woman interviewed Monday initially contacted him Sunday evening and brought a vehicle to the sheriff’s office that is believed to have been involved. The vehicle was impounded, but the woman was released without being charged.
