5 sentenced in Warren, Sharkey courtrooms|Court report

In Warren County Circuit Court the week ending Friday:

• James Curtis Gatlin, 20, 3400 U.S. 80, was found guilty of violating probation and was sentenced by Circuit Judge Isadore Patrick to the Jackson County Restitution Center to pay outstanding fines, costs and assessments (unspecified), followed by three years of probation. Gatlin was arrested July 17, 2008, for nonresidential burglary.

• Clifford A. Geter, 38, 301 N. Fairview Drive, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and to receiving stolen property, and was sentenced by Patrick to consecutive prison terms of five years and three years followed by three years of probation, plus fines totaling $2,645, and drug and alcohol counseling. Geter was arrested June 30 for methamphetamine possession and Nov. 5, 2007, for receiving stolen property.

• Sylvester Shialos O’Neal, 33, 1720 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., was found guilty of violating probation and was sentenced by Patrick to five years in prison. O’Neal was arrested Dec. 14 for third-offense domestic violence.

• Willie H. Rose, 18, 2234 Grove St., Apt. B, was found guilty of non-residential burglary and sentenced by Circuit Judge M. James Chaney to four years of probation, plus $2,072.50 in restitution and fines. Rose was arrested Aug. 25, 2008, for business burglary.

In Sharkey County Circuit Court:

• Michael D. Sherman, 21, 150 S. Fifth Ave., Rolling Fork, was found guilty of violating probation and was sentenced by Patrick to the Greenville Restitution Center to pay $2,196.40 in fines and restitution, followed by three years of probation. Sherman was indicted by the grand jury in April 2008 for mail fraud.
