The engagement of Jessica Lynn Coody to Sam Austin Kennedy, both of Delta, is announced today. Vows will be exchanged at 2 p.m. Sept. 19, 2009, at Willow Bayou Baptist Church in Tallulah. A reception will follow at the church. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Miss Coody is the daughter of Robert O. Coody of Delta and Vickie L. Boler of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Billy and Helen Peebles of Delta and the late Buford and Vallie Coody.

Mr. Kennedy is the son of Robert and Niki Thames of Tallulah. He is the grandson of the late Elijah and Mary Jones.

The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was a member of the NJROTC.

She took paralegal coursework through Ashworth College.

Miss Coody is a waitress at The World.

The prospective groom is a 1998 graduate of Tallulah High School.

He served in the Army.

Mr. Kennedy is employed with the Tallulah Police Department.
