A look at how college football players with ties to the Vicksburg area did in games played last weekend:

• North Texas defensive tackle Kelvin Jackson (Port Gibson) had one solo tackle and three assists in a 20-10 win over Ball State on Thursday.

• Nicholls State running back Albert Williams (Hinds AHS) carried the ball twice for minus-8 yards, lost a fumble, and returned five kickoffs for 81 yards in a 72-0 thrashing at the hands of Air Force on Saturday.

• Southern Miss defensive back Chico Hunter (Warren Central) had three solo tackles and one pass breakup in a 52-0 rout of Alcorn State.

• Jackson State wide receiver Anthony Mayes (Hinds AHS) caught one pass for 2 yards, and lost a fumble in a 45-7 loss to Mississippi State.

• Mississippi College linebacker Quartez Ashmore (Vicksburg High) had four solo tackles, including a sack and two tackles for loss, in a 44-41 double-overtime win over archrival Millsaps. Millsaps defensive lineman John Robert Burnett (St. Aloysius) had one solo tackle in the loss.

• Louisiana-Monroe cornerback Otis Stamps (Warren Central) had one solo tackle and an interception in a 59-20 loss at No. 2 Texas.

• Arkansas State’s Derek Newton (Hinds AHS) started at right tackle and helped the Red Wolves pile up 496 yards of total offense in a 61-0 demolition of Mississippi Valley State.
