A Warren County deputy has joined the ranks of the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Deputy Todd Dykes, a criminal investigator for the sheriff’s office since 2001, will examine Warren County cases of exploited children for the task force while continuing his duties as a deputy, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Dykes also will have access to state prosecutors as well as a computer forensics laboratory at the AG’s office to conduct computer-based investigations, Pace said.

Rather than sending agents to various parts of Mississippi to investigate Internet crimes against children, investigators like Dykes can address problems of their area.

Dykes earned a bachelor in administration of justice at Mississippi College and joined the Warren County Sheriff’s Office in 1990.

In 1998, he left the department to work as an investigator for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for two years before returning.
