Robert W. Thompson

Robert W. Thompson died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg. He was 80.

Mr. Thompson had lived in Vicksburg for the past 55 years. He was the previous owner and proprietor of Delta Hardware Co. in Tallulah.

He was a graduate and an enthusiastic fan of the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg and an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Annie Mary Thompson; a sister, Helen Gould Thompson; and a brother, James Talmadge Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Thompson of Vicksburg; two sons, Michael S. Thompson and his wife, Karyn, of St. Louis, Mo., and Dr. Craig A. Thompson and his wife, Christi Moore, of New Haven, Conn.; one brother, Dan Thompson of Nacogdoches, Texas; and two grandchildren, Ainsley and Abigail Thompson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Buckles officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Roy Jobe, Jerry Kelly, Homer Gardner, Herbert Caldwell, James Tuttle, Victor Boutwell and Arvis Dennis.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cecil Knox Sunday school class of First Baptist Church.
