Vicksburg woman jailed for cashing stolen checks

A Vicksburg woman was in the Warren County Jail today on four counts of uttering a forgery.
Shirley Wood, 48, 1865 Ring Road, was arrested Thursday after four stolen checks were cashed at four businesses in the area, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.
“A gentleman had given her a ride, and she stole four checks from his vehicle,” Pace said.
Wood was being held on $2,500 bond.
Pace said he did not know the names of the businesses and could not say what the amounts of the checks were.
Two city men jailed on drug charges
Two Vicksburg men were in the Warren County Jail today for Warren County Drug Court.
Grant Jones, 21, 1320 East Ave., was being held without bond on a drug court sanction, and Kevin Wilson, 27, 2609 Grant St., was being held on a charge of sale of a schedule III narcotic, hydrocodone.
Two teens found in stolen vehicle
Two Vicksburg teens were in the Warren County Youth Detention Center today after being spotted in a stolen vehicle.
Patrolmen saw the two 16-year-old boys at 12:30 p.m. Thursday driving through South Street in a blue 2000 Ford Explorer, which was recovered at First North and Crawford streets, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
The vehicle had been reported stolen from the 900 block of Jackson Street Wednesday, he said.
The driver was charged with possession of stolen property and daytime curfew violation, and the passenger was charged with daytime curfew violation, Stewart said.
City reports thefts of games, TVs, gun
Videogame consoles, a handgun and a TV were among items reported missing in Vicksburg Thursday, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
An Apple iPod valued at $200, a digital camera valued at $150, a PlayStation 2 valued at $300 and a .35-caliber handgun valued at $150 were reported stolen from a home in the 700 block of Mattingly Street at 10 a.m.
A 19-inch flat screen TV valued at $190, a PlayStation PSP valued at $200, a Zeon DVD player valued at $100, an Apple iPod valued at $200, an Emerson MP3 player valued at $70, two Dooney & Bourke purses valued at $475 and a stainless steel bracelet valued at $200 were reported stolen from a home in the 1400 block of High Street at 4 p.m.
A suitcase containing clothes and makeup valued at $400 and a purse valued at $100 with contents were reported stolen from a 2008 GMC Acadia in the 1000 block of North Frontage Road at 7:15 p.m.
