A Vicksburg man and woman were arrested for grand larceny and conspiracy to commit a crime late Monday night after surrendering at police headquarters.

Jamal Stowers, 21, 128 Village Drive, is accused of conspiring with Shanelle Burden, 27, 4920 Halls Ferry Road, and Antoine Scott, 24, 1235 W. Magnolia St., to take $15,000 during a “staged robbery” Saturday at Trustmark National Bank, 876 U.S. 61 North, police Sgt. Randy Blake said.

“They planned the whole thing,” Blake said.

Scott was arrested Saturday and charged with grand larceny.

Burden, an employee of Kangaroo-owned Texaco convenience store at 4460 Clay St., told police the money had been taken from her by a stranger — later identified as Scott, during a deposit into a night depository at the bank branch.

She also was charged with embezzlement, Blake said.

Burden was being held on $20,000 bond, and Stowers was being held without bond at the Warren County Jail because he was out on bond before the robbery, Blake said.

Scott was released Monday from the Warren County Jail on $10,000 bond.
