Jimmie Dennis Wailes

FLORENCE — Jimmie Dennis Wailes, 88, passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.

Visitation for family and friends is Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m. at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. in the Wright & Ferguson Chapel. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.  

A native of Hinds County, Jimmie was the daughter of James Willis Dennis and Ethel Marble Dennis, who predeceased her. She graduated from MSCW, married C.S. Wailes, and they had two children. She was employed by the State of Mississippi in Jackson for over 30 years.

In the 1960s, Mrs. Wailes became interested in family history and, with increasing diligence and success over the years, became an accomplished genealogist. She devoted countless hours to assisting others who relied on her expertise, enthusiasm and keen interest in genealogy.

For over 50 years Jimmie lovingly cared for her disabled husband, C.S. Wailes, who predeceased her.

She is survived by her son, Dr. S.N. Wailes; her daughter, Ellen Wailes Luter; Ellen’s husband, Dwight K. Luter; and their two children, Brandon Wailes Luter and Jason Segrest Luter.
