Radio equipment target again in bus burglaries

Three NRoute city buses were reported burglarized in two days, said Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart.
At 5:27 a.m. Thursday, a bus’s CD player, a Pioneer valued at $150, was reported missing from the vehicle, which had been parked in the Walnut Street garage, the bus system’s main stop.
At 7:30 this morning, two other buses’ CD players, same brand and same value, were reported missing. The vehicles had been parked at the city’s maintenance shop on China Street.
This week’s burglaries join other bus break-ins. “Out of eight buses, six have been burglarized,” said Stewart.
In September and earlier this month, three pieces of sound system equipment were reported stolen from NRoute buses that had been parked in the Walnut Street garage.
City man accused in auto shop break-in
A Vicksburg man was arrested Thursday and charged with business burglary, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Anthony Wright, 36, address unavailable, is accused of breaking the front-door glass of All Pro, an auto shop at 2127 Washington St., and taking a Compaq laptop computer valued at $600 and a Sentry calculator valued at $8. The items were reported missing at 7:27 Thursday morning.
“We received information that he might have been involved in the burglary,” said Stewart.
Wright was arrested at 4:30 p.m. at Oak and Speed streets. “After he was detained, we recovered the Sentry calculator on his person,” said Stewart.
Wright was in the Warren County Jail without bond pending further investigation and an initial court appearance.
City man charged in marijuana sale
A Vicksburg man was charged with sale of marijuana Thursday after an undercover investigation.
Brian Wilson, 26, 113 Springridge Drive, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. after a traffic stop on Halls Ferry Road, said Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart.
Wilson was released Thursday from the Warren County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Jackson man held here on violation
A Jackson man was in the Warren County Jail today for probation violation, records showed.
Derrick Barnes, 22, 429 S. Gallatin St., was being without bond.
Gun, cash missing from cars in county
In Warren County, a handgun and cash were reported missing in four auto burglaries Thursday, records showed.
At 6:52 a.m., about $10 was reported stolen from a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder that had been parked in the 2900 block of Oak Ridge Road.
About 20 minutes later, $300 was reported stolen from a Toyota pickup that had been parked in the 4300 block of Woodside Drive.
In the afternoon, at 1:35 p.m., in the 100 block of Bottino Drive, a Beretta 9 mm handgun valued at $700 was reported stolen and a glove box valued at $150 was found damaged inside a 2009 Jeep Cherokee. Also, $140 was reported stolen from a 2009 Ford Expedition.
