City teen jailed in armed robbery

A Vicksburg teen was arrested at his home Thursday night for an armed robbery at A&V Discount Tobacco about half an hour earlier.
Willie Fields, 19, 1205 China St. Apartment B4, is accused of showing a small silver handgun while taking an unknown amount of cash from the 2901 Clay St. store at 8 p.m., Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
The man dropped $34 and a cell phone in the parking lot and then fled in an unknown direction, Stewart said.
Police traced the phone back to Fields, but the weapon was not recovered. Fields was being held on $20,000 bond at the Warren County Jail.
The store clerk was not injured.
Gun, GPS systems hot in city thefts
Computers, a navigation system and cash were among items reported missing in Vicksburg, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Two Dell Latitude laptop computers valued at $800 each were reported stolen from a 2005 Honda Accord in the 200 block of Porters Chapel Road at 7:43 a.m. Thursday.
A Jensen flip-screen CD player/navigation system valued at $700 was reported stolen from a 2005 Dodge Magnum in the 2100 block of North Frontage Road at 8:51 a.m. Thursday.
About $5 was reported stolen from a 2004 Toyota Sienna in the 600 block of Holly Ridge Drive at 6:10 p.m. Thursday.
A Coach purse containing $260, a purse containing $50 and a pink Kodak digital camera valued at $180 were reported stolen from a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis parked at Levee and Grove streets at 1:57 this morning.
A .45-caliber handgun and cigarettes were reported stolen from Speed Mart, 2320 Washington St., at 2:30 a.m. today.
Stewart said surveillance footage showed a man wearing a black mask, white gloves, dark pants and a black coat with maroon and white sleeves enter through the front door and leave.
Utility trailer missing on Culkin Road
In Warren County, a utility trailer valued at $900 was reported stolen from a home in the 2900 block of Culkin Road at 3:49 p.m. Thursday, records showed.
City man arrested in old gun theft
A Vicksburg man was charged with possession of a firearm stolen a year and a day ago during a traffic stop this morning.
Willie Parker Jr., 26, 280 Ironwood Drive, is accused of having a High-Point 9mm handgun, which was reported by the Jackson Police Department as stolen on Oct. 22, 2008, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Patrolmen found the gun when they stopped Parker in his 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass for careless driving in the 2600 block of Clay Street at 2:07 a.m., Stewart said.
He was being held at police headquarters without bond pending an initial court appearance.
