Robert William Roper

Robert William “Bob” Roper died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at his home. He was 67.

Mr. Roper was born in Columbus, lived most of his life in Picayune and had been a Vicksburg resident for three years. He served in the Army for three years and in the National Guard for more than 20 years. He was a veteran of Vietnam and was a Green Beret.

He was a member of the VFW, Retired Officers of the National Guard and the J.C. Davis Retired National Guard and Reserve Association of Vicksburg.

Mr. Roper had worked a number of years as a sales representative for Completion Services, Baker Tool Company and Instant Armor and owned Deep South Police Equipment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles A. and Ruth L. Morgan Roper.

He is survived by a brother, Morgan Roper of Picayune; and other relatives, including Wendy Roper of Picayune and Charlotte Morgan Weed of Shreveport, La.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be under the direction of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home.
