The Southern Cultural Heritage Center will host its second annual Holly Days Arts and Crafts show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 5.

The show will be followed by Vicksburg Main Street Program’s annual Christmas Parade of Lights, set for 5 p.m. downtown. Admission to the craft show is $1.

• Ballroom dance lessons from from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 8 and 22. James Frechette of Applause Dance Factory in Jackson will teach the Tango. Cost is $20 per person.

• The annual SCHC meeting and luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 20. AmeriCorps NCCC Southern Region Director Gary Turner will speak. Admission is $10.

Family Bird Walk set for Saturday

The Jackson Audubon Society will host two events in November.

The monthly Family Bird Walk will be at 8 a.m. Saturday at LeFleur’s Bluff State Park Campground in Jackson.

The walks are each first Saturday, except in January and December, and are led by experienced birders and members of the society.

Participants are asked to meet at the Mayes Lake Entrance off Lakeland Drive. Entrance to the park is $3 per vehicle.

Children younger than 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

The group will also host a field trip led by botanist Judy Shearer to Yazoo National Wildlife Refuge on Nov. 14. Participants will meet at 8 a.m. at Hadad’s Store on U.S. 61 North.

2009 Memory Walk Saturday in Monore

The Alzheimer’s Association will host its annual Memory Walk for the Monroe area on Saturday at the Band Stand of Forsythe Park, 2300 Sycamore St.

The fundraiser will kick off with registration at 8 a.m., and the walk is at 9 a.m.

No registration fee required, but organizers are requesting a $25 donation that includes a T-shirt.

Local genealogists will meet Nov. 9

The Vicksburg Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 9 at Shoney’s on Pemberton Square Boulevard.

Tony Dardeau speak. His presentation will be called “Pierre Hardouin, 1699 Ship’s Carpenter.” Hardouin is one of Dardeau’s ancestors.
