City man charged with drug possession

A Vicksburg man was arrested at police headquarters Tuesday afternoon for possession of cocaine after police failed in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant on the accused .

Darrle Andrews, 27, 103 Boykin Drive, was arrested hours after a K-9 unit alerted police to a car parked at 2101 Martin Luther King Drive, where police had attempted to serve the warrant, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

The vehicle was not registered to Andrews, but he admitted driving it, Stewart said.

From the car police retrieved 19 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $500 and $570 in cash, he said.

Andrews was released on $15,000 bond from the Warren County Jail Tuesday.

GPS, iPod missing on Washington Street

At 6:06 Tuesday evening, a Garmin GPS valued at $400 and an iPod valued at $150 were reported stolen from a 2009 Honda Accord in the 1300 block of Washington Street, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
