Dorothy Graddy Whitaker

Dorothy Graddy Whitaker died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at the Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. She was 88.
Mrs. Whitaker was born in Bourbon, Mo., to the late Rufus and Ruth Pratt Graddy. She had been a resident of Redwood for over 60 years. She was a member of the Redwood United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest O. “Buddy” Whitaker; four brothers, William “Bill” Graddy, Harold Graddy, Cecil Graddy and Benjamin Graddy; and three sisters, Betty Mayberry, Evelyn Schmidt and Hilda Phillips.
She is survived by three sons, Stanley Whitaker, Clarence Whitaker and wife Betty Eich, all of Vicksburg, and Timothy Whitaker and wife Melba of Lakeland, Fla.; three grandsons, Wesley Whitaker and wife Sherry of Redwood, Scott Whitaker and wife Michelle of Onley, Va., and Eric Whitaker of Sarasota, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Lauren Whitaker, Bryson Whitaker, Thor Whitaker and Ivan Whitaker; four brothers, Donald Graddy of Geiserville, Calif., and Ed Graddy, Dean Graddy and Ronald Graddy, all of Bourbon; and two sisters, Mildred Hurst of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Hazel Pennock of Creve Coeur, Ill.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barbara Hite of Redwood United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bubba Hanks, Jack Pace, Tommy Lee, Johnny Lee, Doug Jeter and Bradley Lewis.
