The Attic Gallery will present the second lecture in its Artists in the Living Room series at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The free event will feature Vicksburg artists Jean Blue and Kathy Gergo and Jackson artist Ellen Langford.

Each artist will pre-sent new pieces and hold discussions on their techniques.

Riverfest gearing up for 2010 event

The Vicksburg Riverfest board is seeking participants for the 2010 event. The theme will be Jammin’ on the River.

Entries are being sought for the T-shirt design contest. Mail art to P.O. Box 1144 Vicksburg, MS 39181 by Nov. 30. The winner will receive $200.

Art workshops set at SCHC in January

The Southern Cultural Heritage Center will offer two workshops in January.

A two-day drawing basics class led by Vicksburg illustrator Jeanie Nicolson will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 12 and 19. Nicolson is a former illustrator for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She will teach principles including value, line, positive and negative space, perspective and proportion. Cost is $50 for SCHC members and $60 for nonmembers.

A mixed media workshop led by Vicksburg artist Elke Briuer will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 30. Briuer, a member of the Vicksburg Art Association and Mississippi Artists Guild, will teach students how to apply Citra-Solv to magazine pages to create abstract art. Cost is $45 for members and $50 nonmembers.

Vicksburg artist featured at DSU

Vicksburg artist and downtown gallery owner H.C. Porter will be the featured artist at the Delta Regional Exhibition at Delta State University.

Porter will lead a lecture and tour of Backyards & Beyond: Mississippians & Their Stories, her post-Hurricane Katrina exhibit, at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 15. at the Charles W. Capps, Jr. Archives and Museum on the Cleveland campus.

The exhibit will be on display through January.

Tickets on sale for Santa breakfast

Tickets are on sale for the eighth annual Breakfast with Santa, set for 8 to 10 a.m. Dec. 5 at Vicksburg Convention Center.

The $7 fee includes food, a photo with Santa and tickets to the reindeer games and prizes.
