As the Veterans Day Parade coordinator I would like to thank all who participated in this year’s parade. The Sheriff’s Department, the 412th Engineers, County Board of Supervisors, Vicksburg High School ROTC and Band, the Boy and Cub Scouts, The High Steppers, American Legion Post 213 and 213 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 3, the VFW, Red Cross, and those who wanted to participate as walking veterans.
If I omitted anyone not listed please let me know as you were a part of something great other than my memory.
I would also like to thank the people who attended the parade. There was more attendance this year than last and I thank you for showing support for our veterans.A special thanks to Command Sgt. Maj. Jim Bowman, who assisted in setting up the parade.

Angels are among us
What a blessing it is that several Baptist churches and Methodist churches as well as the Knights of Columbus have many hardworking volunteers who are so indulgent with their preparing and delivering food on a weekly basis to us at Magnolia Manor as well as other senior citizen facilities and nursing homes. We are so grateful for their help.
I truly believe that these hardworking volunteers should publicly be lauded for what they do.
Of course, the Salvation Army, We Care, WISSCA and the Pantry Store Room have been helping the needy for many years with paying utility bills, providing groceries, clothing and such. God bless all these people for what they have been famous for doing, helping those of us who can no longer help ourselves.

Widows honored
On behalf of the widows of the veterans who received turkeys as gifts, I would like to say thank you to the general manager of Rainbow Casino.
During these times, concern for our fellow man is not always a priority. It is wonderful that the Rainbow organization has seen fit to pursue a different course and extend a helping hand.
Those who have placed themselves in harm’s way for the good of the country can never truly be repaid, but a thoughtful reminder on a day of reflection to let the widows know their loved ones’ efforts have not been forgotten is greatly appreciated.
