Theatre Plus and the Mississippi Arts Commission will present “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at 3 p.m. today at the Blue Barn Theatre in Port Gibson.
The play is about a stay-at-home mother who takes over as director of her Sunday school’s Christmas pageant.
The theatre is located at 1001 E.P. Spencer Drive. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students. Group rates are available.

Holiday event set at Purks YMCA
The Vicksburg YMCA will host Christmas at the YMCA Tuesday.
The free event will be at 7 p.m. at the Purks YMCA off East Clay Street. Organizers are asking for a canned-good donation for the Community Food Pantry.
Geni Fulcher will present a demonstration of holiday decorating ideas and Ruth Wilkerson will give a presentation of holiday candles.

Attic Gallery sets holiday art show
The Attic Gallery in downtown Vicksburg will present its holiday art exhibit through Dec. 24.
The free event will feature paintings, jewelry, pottery and glass by artists from across the state.

VAA sets the date for Christmas party
The Vicksburg Art Association’s annual Christmas party will be from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Dec. 4.
This year’s theme is Southern Style Toga Party. Attendees are encouraged to dress the part.
The event will be at the VAA’s headquarters, the Firehouse Gallery at Openwood and Main streets, and will feature a silent auction.

Youth fitness camp Thanksgiving week
Pee Wee Workout & Cardiac Kids Fitness of Vicksburg will present Holiday Fitness & Activity Day Camps Nov. 23-24 at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center, 1302 Adams St.
Activities will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are open to ages 3-5 and 6-10.
Cost is $35 per child plus a sibling discount for one day or $55 per child plus a sibling discount for both days.

‘Bones’ series author to speak at SCHF
The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation will present two events by best-selling author and instructor Carolyn Haines.
Haines, who is well-known for her fiction series “Bones,” will give a free lecture and sign books at 6 p.m. Feb. 19.
That event will also feature a one-act skit selected from her novel “Them Bones.” The Vicksburg Theatre Guild is holding auditions for the part of Sarah Booth Delaney for the skit. Call 601-636-0471 for information.
On Feb. 20, Haines will pre-sent a creative writing workshop from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $15 for SCHF members and $20 for nonmembers.
Haines, a Lucedale native, began her writing career as a journalist and has published more than 60 novels. She is fiction coordinator at the University of South Alabama.

Civic club schedules storytelling session
The Vicksburg Chapter of The Links will host another session of The Links at the Library. The event will be from 11 to noon Saturday at the Warren County-Vicksburg Public Library.
Vicksburg police Chief Walter Armstrong will be the featured storyteller for the ongoing K-5 literacy program. Children must be accompanied by a parent.
