Joseph Franklin Robison Sr.

Joseph Franklin Robison Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at his residence. Born Aug. 25, 1934, in Bryson City, N.C., he had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1977.
Mr. Robison was the son of the late Harvey Palmer Robison and Nannie Elizabeth Brogden Robison and was a graduate of Hampton High School in Hampton, Va. He served in the Army during the Korean War from April 1, 1957, to April 30, 1963, with the rank of SP4. He received his associate degree in design and engineering from Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company Apprentice School.
He was employed by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company from 1956 until 1977 and by the Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Plant from 1977 until 1994.
Mr. Robison retired from the Bunge Corporation in 2001. He was a member of the Oakland Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley C. Robison; daughter, Amy Joanne Keatts and her husband, Antonio, of Upper Marlboro, Md; two sons, Joseph Franklin Robison Jr. and his wife, Molly, of Vicksburg and Jeffery Wayne Robison and his wife, Cherrie, of Ackerman; five grandchildren, Tyler Robison, Jeremy Robison, Jeffrey Robison, Emily Robison and Christopher Vencill; and two sisters, Doris R. Lincoln of Attleboro, Mass., and Elizabeth R. Greiner of East Freedom, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Maxwell Palmer Robison.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Justin Rhodes, pastor of Oakland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the service.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Robison, Jeremy Robison, Jeffery Robison, Christopher Vencill, Mark McCann, George Lincoln, John Haughton and Tim Lincoln.
