Car burglary believed linked to 4 others

A car burglary at a Vicksburg motel Saturday morning is believed to be related to four others reported earlier, Vicksburg police said this morning.

Sgt. Sandra Johnson said a Garmin navigation device valued at $150, a Blackberry cell phone valued at $100 and a Razor cell phone valued at $75 were reported missing Saturday from a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe at La Quinta Inn, 4160 S. Frontage Road, at 6:27 a.m.

Police made public on Saturday afternoon the other four car burglaries reported Saturday morning: a 2005 Kia Sorento and a 2008 Chrysler van, both at Best Western Inn, 2445 N. Frontage Road, at 7:35 a.m.; a 2006 Ford F-150 and a 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche, both at Fairfield Inn, 20 Orme Drive, at 7:33 a.m.

Home burglaries reported in city

Televisions, jewelry and nail guns were among the items reported missing in several residential and auto burglaries in the city over the holiday weekend, including:

• In the 1200 block of East Avenue, a 1986 Ford F-350 was broken into. Reported missing was a cordless Impulse framing nail gun valued at $400 and a corded Porter framing nail gun valued at $270.

• In the 1600 block of Lane Street, a residential burglary on Sunday at 9:59 a.m. Reported missing were watches, necklaces and rings valued at $5,000, a trombone and clarinet, both valued at $150, a Samsung cell phone valued at $40, a set of black luggage valued at $150, a floral print suitcase, no value reported, a Compaq laptop computer valued at $1,000, a Apec DVD player valued at $40, a variety of DVDs valued at $120 and an unknown amount of cash. 

• In the 1100 block of Washington Street, a residential burglary on Sunday at 1 p.m. Reported missing was a Dell laptop computer valued at $1,650 and Coloipin prescription drugs, value unknown.

• In the 1000 block of Urban Court, a residential burglary on Saturday at 1:16 a.m. Reported missing were an Xbox and two games, value unknown.

• In the 3000 block of Indiana Avenue, a residential burglary on Saturday at 7:44 p.m. Reported missing was a Phillips 42-inch TV valued at $700, three Coach purses valued at $650 collectively and a vacuum cleaner, make and model unknown, valued at $70.

Greenville man held for counterfeiting

A Greenville man was being held in the Warren County Jail this morning without bond on a counterfeiting charge, according to jail records. Fredrick Franklin, 41, 1283 Lester St., was jailed by Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies on Sunday morning at 2:20.
