City man arrested for embezzlement from dollar store

A Vicksburg man was released from the Warren County Jail on $5,000 bond Wednesday night after being charged with embezzlement earlier in the day.
Korey Cage, 20, 809 Third North St., was arrested at Family Dollar, 2080 S. Frontage Road, for pilfering $1,500 in merchandise for the past five months, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Cage was accused after store security reviewed video footage, Stewart said.
Burglaries reported in cars, one house
Electronics and money were hot in three auto burglaries in Vicksburg Wednesday, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
A wallet containing $20 and a Sony Ericsson Walkman cell phone valued at $200 were reported stolen from a 1998 Nissan Altima in the 3500 block of Manor Drive at 4:30 p.m.
Two hours earlier, a Phase Linear CD player valued at $100 was reported stolen from a 1998 Saturn SL in the 3700 block of Drummond Street.
About $25 in change was reported stolen from a 2000 Jeep Laredo in the 600 block of Crawford Street at 8:41 a.m.
In a home burglary in the 1800 block of Court Street, an Xbox 360 game console valued at $300 and four Xbox games valued at $20 each were reported stolen at 6:26 p.m.
4-wheeler missing from U.S. 61S home
A camouflage-colored 4-wheeler was missing in Warren County Wednesday morning, records showed.
The Honda 500 all-terrain vehicle valued at $5,000 was reported stolen from a home in the 12000 block of U.S. 61 South at 5:55 a.m.
Two women arrested on forgery charges
Two women arrested Wednesday on separate forgery charges on the same bank account were released from the Warren County Jail on $2,500 bond each.
Sheriff Martin Pace said Dandria Monique Lee, 25, 2727 Alcorn Drive, is accused of cashing a $654 check from a local agriculture account at RiverHills Bank in September.
A month later, Lela Rashell Lewis, 22, 9199 Mississippi 3 in Redwood, attempted to cash a $525 check on the same account, and a teller at RiverHills suspected a problem because of the report of the earlier forgery.
The women surrendered to deputies after the attempt at the bank on U.S. 61 North, Pace said.
Teen’s condition better after wreck last week
The condition of a Vicksburg teen injured in a two-vehicle wreck on Mission 66 near MacArthur Drive has been upgraded to good, University Medical Center spokesman Peggy Wagner said today.
Erica Williams, 16, 503 Redbone Road, has been in the hospital since Nov. 25 when her Xterra collided with a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu in front of a business complex at 1905 Mission 66, officials said.
Williams was headed south when her SUV crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a Malibu driven by Justin McKenzie, 24, 1811 MacArthur Drive, Vicksburg police officer Kevin Rushing said.
McKenzie was treated and released from River Region Medical Center, hospital spokesman Diane Gawronski said.
Charges added for 2 held in smash-grabs
Four counts of business burglary have been added to a list of charges two Vicksburg men face for a rash of smash-and-grab break-ins reported in the spring.
Jeremy Mazie, 20, and Derrick Williams, 31, 902 Blossom Lane, were charged Wednesday in the burglaries of BP gas station, 3595 U.S. 61 South; Chevron gas station, 4306 Halls Ferry Road; Zips, 887 U.S. 61 North and the April 9 burglary of Honeyz, Scentz & Fashionz at 3427 Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
The two already had been charged in the burglaries of 61 Quick Stop, 5738 U.S. 61 North; Dollar General, 4000 U.S. 61 South; Port Mart Texaco, 1775 N. Washington St.; Jubilee Smoke Break, 4749 U.S. 61 South and the March 21 break-in at Honeyz, Scentz & Fashionz.
Williams was charged with five counts of business burglary after being extradited from Columbus, Ohio, last week, and Mazie was charged Nov. 9 with four counts.
A woman identified by police as Williams’ girlfriend Tameka Gross, 30, 156 Elizabeth Circle, also has been charged with receiving stolen property.
Separately, Williams was charged with two counts of armed robbery with another man, Trent Reynolds, 26, 1501 1/2 Lane St., for holding two people at gunpoint at Occasions Wine and Spirits at 989 U.S. 61 North on April 3.
Reynolds has been released from the Warren County Jail on $100,000 bond.
Mazie was in jail this morning on a $145,000 bond, and Williams remained on $160,000, Stewart said.
