TUPELO — William Wren “Bill” Goodson, 86, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at his home in Tupelo. He was born June 9, 1923, in Holcomb to Roy C. and Mary Gattis Goodson. Mr. Goodson retired from South Central Bell in 1983. He was a Mason and Shriner.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Tanner officiating. Burial will follow at Holcomb Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Goodson is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Goodson of Tupelo, Susan Wren Goodson of Vicksburg and Mechelle Armstrong and husband Hampton of Madison, Ala.; four sons, William W. Goodson Jr. and wife Rita of California, Rodney Mainelli and wife Judy of McCarley, Miss., William E. “Buzz” Goodson and wife Alicia of Tupelo, and Steven J. Goodson of Quincy, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Natalie Mainelli, Anna Mainelli, Lindsay Goodson, Will Goodson, Daniel Armstrong, Michael Armstrong, Allie Goodson, Callie Goodson and Luke Goodson; one great-grandson, Luke Mainelli; and three sisters, Emogene Reynolds of Memphis, Martha Clark of Holcomb and Faye Albritton of Yazoo City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy C. and Mary Gattis Goodson; and six siblings, Doug Goodson, Jim Goodson, Perron Goodson, Maxine Hayward, Muriel Ward and Steve Goodson.
