McCluster, Jerry earn All-America honors

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss seniors Dexter McCluster and John Jerry received All-America distinction on Tuesday, as McCluster was named to the Associated Press third team as an all-purpose player while Jerry made The Sporting News third team. Both players also earned All-SEC first team accolades.

With 985 rushing yards and 475 receiving yards, McCluster is aiming to become the first player in SEC history with 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in the same season. The Largo, Fla., native is also set to become just the fourth Rebel all-time to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.

McCluster ranks fifth in rushing in the SEC at 82.1 ypg and eighth in all-purpose yards at 124.0 ypg. His 10 total touchdowns accounted for leads the Rebels.

An offensive lineman from Batesville, Miss., Jerry has helped pave the way for McCluster’ rushing excellence, including his school-record 282-yard performance against Tennessee.

Jerry has also anchored a Rebel line that ranks third in the SEC with 14 sacks allowed and fifth in total offense (405.6 ypg). A team captain, Jerry started 11 games for the Rebels this season, with eight coming at right tackle and three coming at right guard.
