HATTIESBURG — Russell E. White Jr. died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Forrest General Hospital. He was 83.
Mr. White was retired from the U.S. Air Force and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Entering civilian employment, he worked for the defense industry and retired from Grand Gulf Nuclear Plant. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia B. White of Hattiesburg; a son, Glenn A. White of San Antonio; a daughter, Jean O’Reilly of Fairview, Texas; three sisters, Marie Hall of Raymond, Mary Anne Woods of Vicksburg and Dixie White Isbee of Machitongo, Va.; three brothers, Rick White and Frank White, both of Raymond, and John White of Utica; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. Burial will follow at D’Iberville Memorial Gardens at 2:30 p.m. with military rites performed by the VFW Post 3036 Honor Guard. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Friday until the service at the church with Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in charge.
