Barney W. Garner

TALLULAH — Barney W. Garner died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. He was 71.

Mr. Garner was born in Danville, Ark., and had lived in Madison Parish for 44 years. He was a retired farmer and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Arnold Garner of Tallulah; one daughter, Susan Garner Johnson of Tallulah; five brothers, Ray Garner, Joe Garner and L.W. Garner, all of Newellton, Tommy Garner of Texas and Hayes Garner of Arkansas; two sisters, Ann Stevens of Mississippi and Grace Wilson of Alabama; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. James H. Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Thursday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Billy C. Lee, Larry Ezell, Brandon DeWeese, Bernie Jobe, Bobby Parker and Blaine Lee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Lee, Charlie Hopkins, Charlie Jobe, Warren Hopkins and James Still.
