Sex offender charged after family reports child, 3, was fondled

A sex offender registered in Warren County surrendered at the Vicksburg Police Department Monday on a charge of gratification of lust.

The family of a 3-year-old child said Thomas Edward Tubbs, 55, 906 National St., fondled the child Friday evening, Vicksburg police Sgt. Randy Blake said.

“An officer called him, and he came in,” police Sgt. Sandra Williams said.

Tubbs previously served time for a rape conviction, Blake said.

He was released from the Warren County Jail Monday evening on $125,000 bond.

City teen charged with statutory rape

A Vicksburg teen was released on a $2,500 bond from the Warren County Jail Monday after being arrested on a statutory rape charge that morning, records showed.

Justin Larry, 17, 155 Stillwater Drive, surrendered to Vicksburg police at 8 a.m. after being contacted by officials, police Sgt. Sandra Williams said.

A complaint had been made against Larry by the mother of the girl who was reportedly younger than 15, Williams said.

Gun-toting robber holds 3, takes money

Three clerks were held at gunpoint Monday night during an armed robbery at a Drummond Street gas station, Vicksburg police Sgt. Sandra Williams said.

One victim told police that while he was taking out the trash, a man holding a shotgun approached him, Williams said.

The victim then yelled to the others to lock the door. The gunman, no description given, broke the door glass to enter Mack’s Gas, 1921 Drummond St., at the intersection with Belmont Street, and took an unknown amount of money from the register, she said.

No one was injured.

Vehicle, gun stolen in county thefts

A vehicle, electronics and a rifle were among items missing in Warren County, records showed.

At 4:48 this morning, a white 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee valued at $5,000 was reported stolen from the 200 block of Hartley Road.

A Wii game console valued at $200, a Wii fit valued at $100, four Wii games valued at $125 together, a blue digital camera valued at $80, a 19-inch flat screen LCD TV valued at $185, about $100 in cash and a .22-caliber Remington rifle with scope valued at $150 were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Buford Drive at 5:15 p.m. Monday.

A Hewlett-Packard desktop computer, clothes and household items were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Ragan Drive at 10:07 a.m. Monday.

Gun reported stolen from truck on Clay

A handgun was reported missing from a pickup in the 4000 block of Clay Street, Vicksburg police Sgt. Sandra Williams said.

A .38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver was reported stolen from a 2003 Toyota TT5 at 2:02 p.m. Monday.
