Warren County Board of Supervisors agenda items

Meeting Monday, the Warren County Board of Supervisors:

• Voted to keep Richard George of District 5 as board president and William Banks of District 2 as vice president.

• Voted unanimously to retain John Smith as county administrator, John McKee as county engineer, Richard Winans as road department manager and ABMB Engineers Inc. as the engineering firm.

• Voted 3-2, with the same split as a year ago, to retain Randy Sherard as board attorney. District 3 Supervisor Charles Selmon moved to accept proposals for the position and gained the support of District 2 Supervisor William Banks, who has voted against each invoice for legal work submitted by Sherard for the past year, including a $4,005 invoice OK’d 4-1 Monday.

• Witnessed the swearing-in of Dwayne Stewart and Rubin Mixon by Chancery Clerk Dot McGee as Warren County deputies.

• Awarded term contracts for various road department supplies. They were: Delta Industries and MMC Materials for concrete products, awarded as a tie bid to be distinguished by best delivery time for a given shipment; Martin Marietta Aggregates for gabion stone; Delta Stone LLC for riprap and for 610 stone; and MMC Materials for crushed limestone.

• Approved the hiring of Amy Luster as a clerk in emergency management.

• Approved invoices totaling $38,215.09 for various engineering services for McKee.

• Approved a $1,059.75 interfund loan to the garbage fund from the general fund.

• Approved three payments to firms involved in the replacement of the bridge to the Port of Vicksburg, including a $88,052.95 pay estimate to Key LLC, a $38,438.38 invoice to ABMB Engineers and $4,833.33 to Jimmy G. Gouras Urban Planning Consultants Inc. Payments are pending receipt of funds from the state.

• Approved a $21,809 check to ABMB Engineers Inc. for a bayou-cleaning project, pending receipt of funds from the state.
