Vicksburg-Warren County Humane Society workers swap blankets and hay in pens at the society’s shelter off U.S. 61 South Thursday. The shelter was one of the many places across Warren County braced for the cold spell that took temperatures to the low 20s and the high to only 40 degrees Thursday. The forecast from the National Weather Service called for continued severe cold — but no precipitation — throughout the weekend.
