Morris S. Herzog

Morris S. Herzog died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was 89.

Born June 13, 1920, in Vicksburg, he was the son of the late Morris Herzog and Mildred Lanier Herzog. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School and Mississippi State University. Mr. Herzog served in the Army during World War II with the rank of captain. He was a cattleman in Raymond and was a longtime member of the Hinds County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by two sons, John L. Herzog Sr. of Leland and Benjamin D. Herzog and his wife, Kathy, of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Maureen H. Scott, and her husband, Allen, of Raymond; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beth Theobald Herzog; and his sister, Alice Herzog Marsalis.

Services will at 11 a.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas McGing officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.
