Debris burns on Wisconsin Avenue near Porters Chapel Road as trees and brush are cleared for a new road and bridge that will be built by Demolition Construction Management Services of Vicksburg beginning Feb. 1. Traffic will be closed on Wisconsin Avenue from Porters Chapel Road north to Bazinsky Road for about 145 days, said Kavanaugh Breazeale of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The construction will be for an internal access road to connect Corps work areas on the east and west sides of Wisconsin. Traffic will move along a bridge that will be constructed. Eventually, all Engineer Research and Development Center traffic will be internal, eliminating ERDC traffic from Porters Chapel Road and Wisconsin Avenue. (Meredith Spencer*The Vicksburg Post)
